Great resource for anxiety, but..
This book is well narrated and is an interesting and helpful book to listen to if you suffer from anxiety. Barry McDonagh suffered from anxiety and panic attacks himself, and this book (and the program that goes with it) has a useful set of techniques for dealing with anxiety, and in particular, panic attacks.
If I have one criticism, it is that it’s main focus is on anxiety around anxiety. It mainly looks at the anxiety we may be feeling around anxiety. I understand that panic attacks, and panic disorders are often fuelled by the fear or anxiety we have about our anxiety, or that we fear a panic attack, and that this fear is often what can bring a panic attack on, so in that sense it is a useful book. However, for me, most of my anxiety is around real or imagined concerns, say health worries, or fears around death, so I often found I needed to “translate this material on the fly”, so that I could use the techniques to deal with just anxiety, rather than “anxiety about my anxiety”.
Still, it is a very good book, and arguably the best in the field for anxiety, but in my opinion it is a bit limited in scope, with an over-emphasis on anxiety about anxiety.
