Publisher's Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of The Good Sister and The Family Next Door with new novel The Younger Wife out now.
Someone once told me that you have two families in your life - the one you are born into and the one you choose. Yes, you may get to choose your partner, but you don't choose your mother-in-law. The cackling mercenaries of fate determine it all.
From the moment Lucy met Diana, she was kept at arm's length. Diana is exquisitely polite, but Lucy knows, even after marrying Oliver, that they'll never have the closeness she'd been hoping for.
But who could fault Diana? She was a pillar of the community, an advocate for social justice, the matriarch of a loving family. Lucy had wanted so much to please her new mother-in-law.
That was 10 years ago. Now, Diana has been found dead, leaving a suicide note. But the autopsy reveals evidence of suffocation. And everyone in the family is hiding something....
From the best-selling author of The Family Next Door comes a new pause-resister about that trickiest of relationships.

Sally Hepworth at her best
There is so much to love about this book, Sally Hepworth writes these stories so well but this might be my favourite one yet. Bravo

Kept me hooked
Loved it. It isn’t as much of a psychological thriller as I thought it would be. But I loved where it went. Quite emotional at times and I loved the slow-growing relationship between the main character and the mother-in-law. The ‘who done it’ was obvious to me from the start but it usually is. So that’s nothing against the author. Besides, I don’t think the mystery was the highlight of the book. It was the relationships and I really enjoyed it.
